  • GeoCities (NASDAQ:GCTY) signs Microsoft's HomeAdvisor as exclusive sponsor/featured home buying service for its new real estate site. 'If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em' may be Microsoft's new strategy of buying space on popular sites. Homes, cars and travel are three popular Microsoft services.

  • Excite (NASDAQ:XCIT) gets an initial "buy" rating from Utendahl Capital Partners which sets a $49 share price target. we think both Excite and Lycos provide the critical mass that many large media companies crave to be players in the new frontier. The problem with a deal like Disney's $430 million for 43% of Infoseek (NASDAQ:SEEK) so far has been nothing visible about the deal to laud or applaud. When its new portal debuts we expect Wall Street to sit up and take note.

  • Network Associates (NASDAQ:NETA), which specializes in security solutions for the Web, is started with an "attractive" rating by Bear Sterns.
